Libraries Silly Squad summer reading challenge

This summer, the borough’s libraries, run by GLL are hosting an online version of the ever popular summer reading challenge. Children can join the Silly Squad on a new adventure by setting their own personal reading challenge to complete this summer. The online platform helps them keep track of their books, reviews and the rewards unlocked along the way.
Children can design their own avatar, play games, earn points and unlock badges.

There are loads of brilliant book suggestions to get them started, and tips on how to keep reading. They can also enjoy heaps of super silly activities, quizzes, videos, games and more. Simply search for summer reading challenge.

Not all borough libraries are open yet, but Brierley Hill, Dudley, Halesowen, Kingswinford, Sedgley and Stourbridge re-opened with revised hours earlier this month. Please check that the services you need are available before setting out. They are offering a library takeaway service, simply call or email with your interests and staff will pack and have a selection of items ready for collection. People can also download ebooks and e-audio books with their Dudley Library card. Since shutdown there has been a 162% increase in library e-book and e-audiobook use with the service proving hugely popular. Details are available online
