Mayor joins TV chef for fippin’ fun

The Mayor of Dudley will be joining a former TV Bake Off chef for some flippin’ good fun in Dudley town centre this weekend to celebrate forthcoming Pancake Day.

Former Great British Bake Off contestant Terry Hartill, who is from Dudley, will be in the town centre showing off his cooking skills on Saturday (Feb 26).

Mayor, Councillor Anne Millward, will be there too to compare her pancake-making skills ahead of Pancake Day next week.

The day is part of the Welcome Back campaign to encourage people back into town centres and support local businesses as the country emerges from the pandemic.

The event, which runs from 10am-3pm, will also include fun and games and a live broadcast on Black Country Radio, which has organised the day.

Councillor Anne Millward, Mayor of Dudley said:

“We need to do everything we can to support our local businesses and it will be great to see people back in our town centres on Saturday.

“I make a really good pancake but I’m looking forward to getting some top tips from a celebrity chef. People should come and join us and have some fun.”

The community radio station has organised a number of events in town centres across the borough including a multicultural event in Lye High Street on March 12 and another in Brierley Hill on March 19. There will be a Mother’s Day event in Halesowen on March 26. All events run from 10am to 3pm.
