Mayor meets Glyn Costigan at USP Steels

Mayor praises exciting new business premises

Kingswinford business USP Steels treated The Mayor of Dudley to a tour of its brand-new premises when it officially opened on Friday.

The new four-acre site, with its 50,000 sq. ft distribution centre, has been purpose-built on Gibbons Industrial estate and is an eco-friendly facility.

The mayoral visit was part of Dudley Council’s ‘Made in Dudley Borough’ campaign, which is supporting creativity and innovation in businesses across the borough.

Set to supply steel sheet and plate, the site will be one of the leading facilities in the UK, providing space to further expand all operations into 2023 and beyond. The factory area boasts an extensive 40,000 square ft stock area, enabling a continuous flow of work and movement of steel, through to its six loading bays.

The Mayor of Dudley Councillor Sue Greenaway said:

When we talk about home-grown innovation and talent, it doesn’t get much better than at USP Steels. It was wonderful to come and cut the ribbon to open this impressive new facility.
I was amazed to see the investment they have placed in the business and how they have focused on staff wellbeing and environmental sustainability to create their impressive new premises.
It was also wonderful to hear how the company is creating opportunities for young people and I very much enjoyed meeting with members of the team who have achieved so much together.
Facilities at the site also include state of the art office and conference facilities, an on-site bar, multi-use gym, sauna room and gaming area including a games machine and pool table in the recreational area for employees to use.

Glyn Costigan, Company Director at USP Steels, said:

We were delighted to welcome The Mayor and other members of the community to the opening of USP Steels.
The acquisition and development of this site is a milestone in the company’s history. The transition of the business into this unique, purpose-built facility is testament to the efforts of all involved over the past three years. It’s been designed to the highest environmental specifications, tending to enhance employee wellbeing in a healthy working environment, whilst affording sustained operational growth and employment opportunities for the local and wider community.
We are very proud of what we have achieved, and we are looking forward to many more years of successful trading in the years to come.
