Mayor visits construction firm

Councillor Andrea Goddard visited Pegasus based in Lye to find out first-hand how the company puts sustainability at the heart of its business.

The Mayor was given a tour around the premises by Steven Hand, operations director.

The firm, which was established in 2010, employs more than 200 staff from the local area.  It recently signed up to Dudley’s Mayoral Business Club.

The company provides a variety of construction services, including skip and grab hire, recycled and virgin aggregates and a mix on site concrete service. They also provide utility services, traffic management and environmental testing.

It has a state-of-the-art wash plant, which allows it to wash and recycle inert waste, which can be used in other projects, significantly reducing the amount of waste produced on site.

Councillor Andrea Goddard, Mayor of Dudley, said:

It was great to meet the team at Pegasus today and see first-hand how they are working sustainably to recycle construction waste and importantly reduce the amount of waste going to landfill.

This is a local business, which has thrived since its launch in 2010 and is significantly contributing to our local economy. I wish it every success in the future.

Made in Dudley Borough aims to celebrate and highlight the work of local businesses. Senior council leaders are planning to tour many of the businesses to see first-hand their work and speak to bosses about support from the council.
