Mayor visits fast-growing borough car parts firm

An international car parts firm which has recently expanded its operations in the borough received a visit last week from the Mayor of Dudley.

Dudley’s first citizen, Councillor Sue Greenaway, visited the new Herth+Buss factory in Pensnett as part of the Made in Dudley Borough initiative.

The firm, which employs eight members of staff, moved from its previous base in Halesowen to a bigger premises at Dreadnought Business Park, off Dreadnought Road, this summer.

It has more than 13,000 different car parts on site and supplies all over the world, with bases also in Germany, France, Belgium and Spain.

Bosses - including the firm’s overall managing director Holger Drewing who was visiting from Germany - told the mayor of their plans to further double the growth of the business in the next few years.

Councillor Sue Greenaway, the Mayor of Dudley, said:
I was delighted to visit the new Herth+Buss factory, which is in my ward, and hear how they have been able to expand their operations despite the difficulties posed by Brexit and the pandemic.
As a council we will do all we can to help them continue to grow, and I would urge other firms to get in touch with us and arrange a visit.
Holger Drewing, the Managing Director of Herth+Buss, said:
We wanted to have more flexibility on our investments in the local area, so it made a lot of sense to choose the DY5 Enterprise Zone for our relocation, given the relief on business rates.
Good infrastructure is so important to our business and the internet speed and transport links here are excellent. We’re close to the motorway network and several airports, so we’re able to service all of our customers in the UK.
We’re keen to develop our ties with the Dudley business community and expand our team once we are fully operational at our new location. We were delighted to welcome the Mayor of Dudley at our new location

Made in Dudley Borough aims to celebrate and highlight the work of local businesses. Senior council leaders touring businesses to see first-hand their work and speak to bosses about support from the council.
