Milking Bank Primary Pupils Service of Remembrance

Milking Bank pupils remember

Children from Milking Bank Primary School held their own service of Remembrance yesterday (11 November) ahead of Remembrance Sunday.

Year 3 pupils performed a heartfelt Remembrance Assembly to honour heroes past and present. They performed 'Sing' as a year group and translated the chorus using sign language while nursery children made and shared poppies for the school’s minute silence.

At 11am the school congregated on the playground for a minute's silence. The Last Post was played Vicky Cunningham, Vice Chair of Governors. Children who attend Beavers, Cubs, Rainbows, Brownies and Guides were all invited to wear their uniforms.

Karen Brass, head teacher, Milking Bank Primary, said:
Every year our school community comes together to remember and commemorate the lives given for us.
Our children were so respectful and really thought about what Remembrance means, with even the smallest standing quiet, still and contemplative during the minute. We truly demonstrated that we are a Rights Respecting School. I was really proud of all of them.
Councillor Ruth Buttery, cabinet member for children and young people, said:
It’s important to continue to mark remembrance and I’m glad that Milking Bank Primary have continued this tradition.
