Mobile covid test site to be moved
A drive-in coronavirus testing centre in Dudley borough is moving to a new location next week.
The mobile testing unit currently based at Saltwells Education Centre is used to test people who are showing symptoms of coronavirus.
From Tuesday (18 May) it will be relocated to Engine Lane in Brierley Hill.
The mobile testing unit, which is drive-in only, will be located at the end of Engine Lane and signs will available to direct people.
The PCR testing centre at Saltwells Education centre will be operational until close of play Monday 17 May. The centre will continue to offer rapid symptom-free testing, within the main building.
Councillor Nicolas Barlow, cabinet member elect for health and adult social care, said:
We’re are continuing to support NHS test and trace with their important work.
Anyone who is symptomatic must book a PCR test at one of the sites, even if they have been vaccinated.
People who have no symptoms can play their part by following government guidance and continuing to have twice weekly symptom-free tests.
Steve Hargreaves, Operations Manager at Merry Hill, said:
We’re proud to be extending our support to Dudley Council as they set up their new mobile testing unit within the Merry Hill site.
The health and wellbeing of our local community is incredibly important to us and by supporting the drive-in testing centre, we aim to help everyone get access to this vital service should they need it.
Testing for people with coronavirus symptoms is also available on foot in locations in Dudley, Lye and Stourbridge. Further details of testing locations can be found online.
