Mobile testing site moves to new location
The borough’s mobile testing unit in Gornal will move to a new location in Sedgley this week.
From Friday (July 30) the mobile testing site based on the car park of the Royal British Legion, Ruiton Street, Gornal will move to Tenscore playing field car park on Priory Lane in Sedgley.
The new test centre will be open on Friday and will operate from 9am to 6pm, seven days a week but appointments must be booked in advance by calling 119, or online at www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test.
It can be accessed by car or on foot. The site is for people with COVID-19 symptoms, those who generally feeling unwell or people who think they have been in contact with someone with COVID-19 or anyone instructed to get a PCR test.
The last appointments at the testing centre at the Royal British Legion will be on Thursday July 29.
Councillor Nicolas Barlow, cabinet member for health and adult social care, said:
Thanks to the Royal British Legion for accommodating the mobile testing unit during the last few weeks, we appreciate their support. As restrictions have eased and the legion has functions to accommodate, it’s appropriate for us to now find an alternative location for the site. We want to maintain testing capacity in the north of the borough, and this is why we have temporarily chosen this new location. As ever, it remains critical for people to get tested if they are showing symptoms or feeling generally unwell. With restrictions now eased, this is one of our biggest lines of defence next to the vaccine. I’d also urge people without symptoms to carry on taking their twice weekly symptom free tests at home.
Other sites for PCR testing can still be accessed across Dudley borough and home testing kits can also be ordered online. More information can be found at www.dudley.gov.uk/testsites
