More than 1,000 memberships sold at leisure centres

More than 1,000 memberships have been sold at Dudley leisure centres since the start of the new year.

In total 1,200 people have signed up to be a member across the three Dudley Council-run centres including 500 at the new Duncan Edwards Leisure Centre in its opening week.

The new centre opened last month and has seen hundreds of people come through the doors to take a look around the new state-of-the-art facilities, with many people choosing to become a member.

Dudley Council offers a range of memberships across its three centres, currently at a discounted price.

There’s a 12-month membership for the price of 10 at £320, equivalent to 90p a day, or people can sign up for a Direct Debit Lifestyle membership up until 14 February 2022 and pay nothing until 1 March 2022. Terms and conditions apply.

People can also choose to pay as they go for activities at all centres, if they prefer, including the new adventure play at Duncan Edwards, which offers fantastic soft play for youngsters. There are also courts available for sports such as badminton and 5-a-side football.

Councillor Simon Phipps, cabinet member for regeneration and enterprise, said:

We had hundreds of people through the door in the first week of opening at the new state-of-the art Duncan Edwards Leisure Centre and I’m pleased more than 500 decided to sign up and become a member and take advantage of the amazing facilities on offer.
Our centres are spacious and there is a lot of equipment available, so even with the new members you should always find something you’d like to do at any time.
The memberships are flexible and can be used across all three of our leisure centres and people still have time to make the most of the deals available
