New play equipment for Wollaston park
Families are being invited to enjoy a play area opening event at Kent Road Park in Wollaston during February half term.
The park is having £80,000 of work done, with play equipment for children of all ages currently being installed by Dudley Council following a grant from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF).
Families will be able to try out the new play equipment on Wednesday 19 February from noon to 2pm, with free goodies, games and activities on offer.
Working with the local tenants and residents’ association, the council has successfully applied for £72,500 through the UKSPF. The remaining £7,500 of costs are being sourced through Section 106 money.
The play area will consist of a toddler multi-play unit, a junior multi-play unit, a flush roundabout, a two-bay swing, springers, roll-over bars, seesaw, sensory totem and sensory panels, fun and educational thermographs and toddler seating.
In addition to the play area improvements, the local authority is undertaking some tree planting and signage to the park.
Councillor Damian Corfield, cabinet member for highways and environment. said:
“We are delighted that work is underway at Kent Road and I am sure families will want to come and try it out at the opening event next month.
“I would like to thank the tenants and residents’ group for raising awareness of the need for investment and for supporting us to get the additional funds needed to put the finishing touches on this project.”
There is no need to pre-book the event but children must be accompanied by an adult.
