New play equipment potential at park
A children’s play area at a Dudley borough park could get an £80,000 makeover after it was added to list of “key projects” by councillors.
King George V Park, Wordsley, has been added to a list of projects to be considered for Community Infrastructure Levy funding.
Parks bosses say the park is a priority and needs investment in new play equipment.
It was added to a list of potential projects which also includes creating 26 car parking spaces at Kinver Street open space, a new toddler play feature at Hawbush and installation of new gym equipment and football skills area at The Promenade, Chapel Street, Brierley Hill
The projects will be evaluated and then detailed proposals put before cabinet members for a decision next year.
Council bosses, including the leader of the council, toured the park today to get an idea of what is needed to upgrade the facilities and said it was one of their preferred projects.
Councillor Shaz Saleem, cabinet member for highways and public realm, said:
The park is very popular but it needs investment. I have personally asked for this park to be added to the list of options for Community Infrastructure Levy funding. They are all key projects but when the report comes before cabinet next year, this park is certainly one that stands out.
The Friends group has been working all year to raise funding for the park.
