Councillor Damian Corfield welcomes new rapid response crews

New rapid response crews

New rapid response crews will now respond to urgent requests for street cleansing and grounds maintenance across Dudley borough.

As part of its street scene team, Dudley Council has introduced three dedicated rapid response crews to improve efficiency and response times across the service.

A dedicated team will look after either the northern, central or southern parts of the borough.

They will respond to daily reactive requests that come in through Dudley Council Plus such as the removal of fly tipping or broken glass or the clearance of overgrown vegetation.

The crews will also proactively deal with issues as and when they identify them whilst travelling through the borough.

It means other street scene teams, which are responsible for routine maintenance are able to focus on the work that’s scheduled.

Councillor Damian Corfield, cabinet member for highways and environment services, said:

We are improving the way we run our street cleansing and grounds maintenance services.

These new rapid response teams can deal with reactive daily requests and leave our other crews to get on with routine work.

This means we can provide a more responsive and efficient service, delivering the best for our residents.
