New vaccination site opens ahead of Bank Holiday weekend
People aged 18 and over are being encouraged to grab a jab over the Bank holiday weekend at a new site in Merry Hill Shopping Centre.
Jhoots Pharmacy is running the vaccine pop up at the mall’s upper-level, opposite Boots for people to get first and second Pfizer doses starting from tomorrow (Friday 27 August).
The pop up is open 9am to 6pm on weekdays and Saturdays from Friday 27 August to Saturday 4 September, 11am to 5pm on Sunday 29 August and Sunday 5 September, and 10am to 6pm on Bank Holiday Monday (30 August).
No appointment is needed, people can just turn up, and they don’t have to be registered with a GP.
The pop up is offering first and second dose vaccines – there has to be a minimum of eight weeks between the two doses.
There will also be qualified health professionals on hand to answer any questions.
Councillor Nicolas Barlow, cabinet member for health and adult social care, said:
It is vital that adults take up their vaccine to protect themselves and others in the community against Covid-19.
I hope that any adult who is not already vaccinated, and those due for their second dose, will take this chance to get it done over the Bank Holiday break at Merry Hill.

We are pleased to be working with both Dudley Council and a local pharmacy to host a vaccination hub, starting this Bank Holiday weekend.
Health and wellbeing has always been a priority for us and by opening this pop-up within the centre, we hope to support our local community by providing them with convenient access to this service.
Anyone displaying covid-19 symptoms should isolate and seek a test. Anyone who has tested positive for Covid-19 should follow NHS guidance and should not have their vaccine until 28 days after testing positive.
Dr Masood Ahmed, Chief Medical Officer for Black Country and West Birmingham Clinical Commissioning Group, said:
Our goal is to make it as easy as possible for people to get vaccinated against this deadly virus and our walk-in sites are perfect for those who want to drop in at a time that suits them. This is a great opportunity for adults aged 18 and over in Brierley Hill to have the vaccine on their doorstep, with no appointment necessary.
It’s important to remember that COVID-19 hasn’t gone away, so we’re urging all adults who are yet to take up the offer of a vaccine to head to the walk-in this weekend. Whether you were invited to have your vaccine months or weeks ago, the offer is evergreen and you still have a dose with your name on.
If you’ve already had your first dose over eight weeks ago, please come and see us for your second dose. Having the vaccine is the most important step we can take to protect ourselves, our loves ones and our communities against COVID-19.
