October Half term fun in Dudley borough
Children and young people from across the borough can enjoy spookily good activities this October half term.
Dudley Council is offering activities in parks, leisure centres and museums from Saturday 22 to Sunday 30 October.
Children who live in Dudley borough can benefit from free swimming at Duncan Edwards Leisure Centre in Dudley and Crystal Leisure Centre in Stourbridge throughout the holidays. People must be registered in advance with full details online at https://www.freeswimindudley.co.uk/home
Dudley Council’s three leisure centres and The Dell Stadium will offer activities including spooky crafts, soft play, football, and table tennis. Full details can be found at https://www.dbleisure.co.uk/
At Himley Hall and Park there will be a free Halloween trail from Monday 24 to Friday 28 October, 11am to 3pm. Children can grab a worksheet from the terrace hatch then search the park for ghouls and ghosts. The Red House Glass Cone is offering lots of Halloween themed craft. On Friday 28 October from 10.30am to 12.30pm and 1pm to 3pm there will be a Chat and Craft Halloween session for adults and children aged eight and over, where participants can enjoy making a spooky scene using the natural materials provided for £8.25. On Thursday 27 October there will be a spooky fused glass class for adults and children aged eight and over, each session lasts 40 minutes with slots available at 10.30am, 11.30am, 1pm and 2pm and costing £6 per person. On Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 October there will be the ever popular ‘No Tricks, Just Treats’ spooky craft activity for children of all ages. All sessions must be pre-booked on 01384 812750.
The Dudley Archives and Local History Centre will hold a local history day in conjunction with the Friends of Dudley Archives and Dudley Museum on Saturday 29 October. Family history research advice will be available for visitors throughout the morning and there will be a tour of the archives at noon. At 10.30am there will be a talk from Paul Ford about the trial and execution of murderer William Howe and at 1pm Graham Worton from the Museum at the Archives will talk about the Black Country UNESCO Global Geopark. Talk and tours must be pre-booked by calling 01384 812770.
Himley Bonfire and Fireworks Show will also bring back the fun on Saturday 5 November, with a stunning event pyrotechnics show. Gates open from 4.30pm and tickets are selling fast at www.himleyhallandpark.co.uk/bonfire-tickets
