Older drivers urged to sign up for free road safety course

Free road safety courses for older drivers are being held in Dudley and across the Black Country in 2025.

The first course, for drivers aged 60 and over, will take place at The Dell Stadium in Brierley Hill on Wednesday January 15.

Courses will also take place at Walsall Arena and Arts Centre on Tuesday March 11, and at The Wheelhouse, Wolverhampton Cricket Club on Wednesday May 14.

Booking is essential and places will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

Councillor Damian Corfield, cabinet member for highways and environmental services, said:

“For many older people, a driving licence is an important symbol of independence.

“Along with our neighbouring Black Country authorities, West Midlands Police and National Highways, we want to help people retain that independence and mobility while remaining safe on the road.

“The course will provide information, advice and guidance to help those who want to drive safer for longer, and it will be very informal with the opportunity to ask questions.”
