The Duke of Edinburgh

Online book of condolence

People are invited to pay their respects to the Duke of Edinburgh, who sadly passed away on Friday, by signing the Royal online book of condolence.

The online book can be found at https://www.royal.uk/condolence

The Duke’s funeral will be held at St George’s Chapel at in the grounds of Windsor Castle, at 3pm on Saturday, 17 April 2021.

The event will be televised and there will be a national minute's silence at 3pm in memory of the Duke.

People are discouraged from travelling to Windsor and asked not to place floral tributes to avoid public gatherings in line with covid guidelines.

Kevin O’Keefe, chief executive at Dudley Council, said:

It was with great sadness that we heard of the Duke’s passing on Friday and our thoughts and prayers remain with the Royal family.
Like many people across the country, we understand residents would like to pay their respects to the Duke and send their condolences.
The safest way for people to do this is to sign the national online book of condolence and observe the minute’s silence at home on Saturday.

The union flag will continue to fly at half-mast on council buildings as a mark of respect until Sunday morning.
