Himley Bonfire

Pallets wanted for circus themed bonfire

People are being urged to donate their unwanted pallets to help build a huge bonfire at Himley Park for Saturday November 6.

Bosses at the Dudley Council-owned beauty spot are appealing for help from local companies who can donate unbroken, wooden pallets to build the giant bonfire for this year’s event.

Run in association with Jewson, the show will dazzle the audience with this year's incredible pyrotechnic and visual tribute to the circus theme. A night market, street entertainers, seasonal refreshments and a huge funfair will also be in the park.

Limited tickets for the premium viewing area are available online, on a first come-first served basis. This area is next to the hall on the south lawns and has an elevated view of the park and lake. There are also food and drink vendors including alcoholic beverages which will only be available in this area.

Standard tickets will include access to the main park area, where alcohol will not be on sale, night market and funfair.

Councillor Simon Phipps, cabinet member for regeneration and enterprise said:

We’re very excited about the return of our spectacular fireworks and bonfire event at Himley Hall, which is the largest council-run display in the country.
Our event is tremendously supported by local companies donating huge numbers of pallets and we’re calling on local businesses to help us again this year. Anyone who can help is urged to get in touch as soon as possible.
Only wooden pallets can be accepted and not garden rubbish, tree trunks or old furniture.

Pallets cannot be collected but deliveries will be accepted at Himley Hall between Friday 1 and Saturday 16 October. Companies wishing to dispose of their pallets that can deliver to the park should call 01384 817834 or 01384 817822 to make prior arrangements.
