Parking restrictions to be introduced to improve safety

Parking restrictions are to be introduced to improve safety on a number of streets across the borough following reports to the council from residents.

The local authority has published its list of new Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs) for 2025/26.

It has been drawn up in response to concerns raised by residents, ward councillors and MPs. The concerns included parked vehicles causing visibility problems at junctions, safety issues for pedestrians – including around schools – and inconsiderate parking in residential areas.

The work will see single or double yellow lines painted to restrict parking.

Streets affected are:

  • Grange Lane, Pedmore Road, Shepherds Brook Road, New Farm Road and Fieldfare Road in Stourbridge
  • Wollaston Road, Stourbridge
  • Milking Bank and Shugborough Road, Dudley
  • Newfield Lane and Newfield Crescent, Halesowen
  • Ashenhurst Road and Geston Road, Russells Hall, Dudley
  • Olive Lane, Halesowen
  • Mount Pleasant, Quarry Bank
  • Stratford Close and Aintree Way, Dudley

Changes to disabled parking bays are also planned for a number of streets including School Drive, Amblecote; Scotts Road, Turney Road and Rutland Place in Stourbridge; Gloucester Road in Netherton and Field Road in Dudley.

Councillor Paul Bradley, deputy leader of the council, said:

“Residents and ward councillors are our eyes and ears in many cases, and as a listening council we have used their concerns and representations to identify the roads where work is needed.

“Work will start very soon and go on throughout the year.

“We are committed as a council to doing all we can to make our roads and streets safe both for drivers and pedestrians.”
