People to be invited to have their say on the Dudley Borough Local Plan
People who live and work in Dudley borough will be invited to have their say on a new local plan, which is being developed, following national changes in planning legislation.
The Dudley Borough Local Plan will be a strategy for future development with the aim of ensuring enough homes are built and with the vision of supporting a thriving economy.
Dudley Council’s cabinet is expected to agree development of the plan, which will be in place until 2045. The proposals will include three public consultations, with the first one expected this summer.
Cabinet will also be asked to formally adopt the Dudley Local Plan, which has been previously consulted on, examined and is now considered ‘sound’ by the Planning Inspectorate. It does not release greenbelt for development and focuses on brownfield-led regeneration.
Councillor Patrick Harley, leader for Dudley Council, said:
“The adoption of the Dudley Local Plan provides a regeneration framework, encouraging brownfield redevelopment and investment in the borough.
“Since the Local Plan was created there have been national changes in planning legislation, and we are one of a number of local authorities who need to revisit our Local plan.
“The first consultation on the New Local Plan will be over the summer, and people will be able to find out more from our website over the coming months.”
The Dudley Local Plan will be superseded when the new Dudley Borough Local Plan is finalised in 2029.
