Plans for housing investment to go to cabinet

Plans to invest £451million over the next five years to improve council homes across Dudley borough will go to cabinet next week.

On Monday July 15, members will be asked to consider and approve Dudley Council’s five-year housing capital programme.

Following a stock condition survey of every council home across the borough, the council is now able to confirm the investment needed over the next five years to maintain and improve homes to a decent standard.

Details of the investment have been outlined in a report to cabinet.

Councillor Ian Bevan, cabinet member for housing and communities, said:

“As a social landlord we have responsibility for more than 20,000 council homes in our borough.

“To identify what we need to do in the future to maintain and improve standards, we have spent the last year or so inspecting every home.

“This has given us robust data and a clear picture of what investment is needed and considered essential over the next five years as we deliver on our commitment to provide quality homes for our tenants.”

Financing of the housing capital programme is built into the council’s ringfenced Housing Revenue Account
