Pothole crews out to identify snow damage
Highways engineers are taking immediate action to identify potholes and defects on Dudley borough roads caused by last week's snow and ice.
Teams are out and about to repair the most serious potholes and carry out patching work.
Highways bosses have ordered the immediate action following last week's snow and ice which will have caused damage to road surfaces.
Councillor Damian Corfield, cabinet member for highways and environment, said:
We have teams out and about all through the year to identify road surface defects, but with the snow and ice last week there is likely to be significant damage to the highways. I have asked for this to be addressed immediately to identify problem areas and make repairs as soon as possible. Clearly, the damage will not be repaired overnight and I would ask people to bear with us. But we are making this a priority.
The freezing temperatures and heavy snow fall is likely to have caused cracks and holes in the road surface.
There are 10 teams of pothole and patching crews working across the borough to tackle any issues.
In last year’s budget, the council added an extra £1million to tackle potholes, particularly in residential areas.
