Proposed new forum for Friends of Parks groups
A new forum for Friends of Parks groups could soon be set up to bring together and support organisations which care for green spaces across the borough.
Dudley Council’s cabinet is being asked to support the formation of the forum when it meets next week (October 8).
If approved, it will bring together community volunteers, local groups, and partners, with the recommendation for Dudley CVS to support the initial set-up and running while it establishes.
The benefits of the forum would include the opportunity to share knowledge, connect groups with others who’ve faced similar challenges, get updates on funding, training, events, volunteering opportunities, support and practical resources and promote parks improvements.
Councillor Damian Corfield, cabinet member for neighbourhoods, said:
“Our Friends of Parks groups do an incredible job supporting and enhancing green spaces across the borough.
“Establishing a borough-wide forum would help bring these groups together, allowing them to share ideas, learn from each other, access practical support and explore new opportunities to improve our parks for residents and visitors."
Once established the forum may expand to other associated groups which have an involvement with parks and open spaces within the Dudley borough.
