Remember remember…pay to park at this year’s Himley Bonfire
People attending this year’s Himley Bonfire are being reminded they will need to pay to park on site.
For the first time, parking will need to be pre-booked for the event on Saturday November 4 at a cost of £10 plus booking fee. Tickets will be scanned on entry and visitors who have not pre-booked will be turned away.
Council bosses hope the move will help ease congestion as people enter and leave the event.
To book your place, simply add the parking fee on when booking tickets for the event at www.himleyhallandpark.co.uk/bonfire-tickets.
For those not parking on site there remains a number of other options to get to the event, which is expected to attract 22,000 people.
The free bus service will again be running, with 26 National Express coaches in operation across the borough. Full details can be found at www.himleyhallandpark.co.uk/bonfire-faqs
There will also be a park-and-ride available just a five-minute bus ride away at Col’s Car Boot, near Sandiacre farm shop on the B4176. It costs £8 card or cash and availability is on a first come first served basis.
Councillor Phil Atkins, cabinet member for corporate strategy, said:
“The annual bonfire has sold out the last two years, and we fully expect to make it a hat-trick in 2023.
“With 22,000 visitors coming into the site, traffic and congestion is inevitable. But we are looking at measures to try and reduce that where we can, and introducing pre-paid parking on site is one of those.
“Along with free buses and the park and ride, and the fact we open the gates from 4.30pm to allow people to come early beat the rush, means hopefully people will be able to get on and off as quickly and safely as possible.”
