Reminder to complete the census

Borough residents are reminded now is the time to complete their census form.

Sunday (March 21) was Census 2021 day but forms can still be completed so long as answers reflect who was living or staying in their household on the day.

Dudley, Halesowen and Stourbridge libraries are offering telephone support to anyone who needs help completing the form. Call Dudley Library on 01384 815560, Halesowen Library on 01384 812983 or Stourbridge Library on 01384 812945.

In addition, three neighbourhood learning centres – Dudley Wood, Brierley Hill and Castle and Priory - are providing phone support on 01384 818143, while face-to face support is also available at these centres by booking an appointment on the same number.

A national contact centre is also offering support on 0800 141 2021.

Run by the Office for National Statistics (ONS), the census is a once-in-a-decade survey which gives the most accurate estimate of all the people and households in England and Wales.

It provides essential information for government, local authorities, businesses, charities and the community to plan and deliver services, reach those who need help and secure funding.

Billions of pounds of public money is distributed using census figures on services such as transport, education and health – on cycle routes, schools and dental surgeries.

Every household must complete the census and provide accurate information. The ONS will be following up with those which have not yet done so to advise on the support available to help them complete the census.

Households will never be asked for any payment, bank details or personal information as part of the census

Kevin O’Keefe, Dudley Council’s chief executive, said:

The census collects vital information and helps us understand what our society needs now and what it will likely need in the future.
I’d encourage anyone who has not already done so to complete their questionnaire as soon as possible to have their say and make a difference.
