Residents get ready to celebrate King’s Coronation
Final preparations are in place for street parties in Dudley borough as residents get ready to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III this weekend.
Windsor Road in the Norton area of Stourbridge is one of the 24 streets in the borough that will be hosting parties during the coronation weekend.
It will be the third time in recent years that the aptly named road has come together to host a street party.
Residents on Windsor Road will be enjoying food, drinks and party games tomorrow after watching the coronation ceremony.
Dudley Council has sent party packs to all addresses hosting street parties with essentials like bunting, paper cups and flags to add some extra colour to the celebrations.
Caroline Hadley, organiser of the Windsor Road street party, said:
As residents, holding a street party brings an opportunity for us all to come together, young and old, to display a united community and our pride in the area we live in.
We have a wonderful street with wonderful neighbours and we all thoroughly enjoy ourselves. The children love to have the freedom to play in the street and we organise games for them, such as the egg and spoon race and pass the parcel.
This celebration is an opportunity to bring people and the country together.
Councillor Patrick Harley, leader-elect of Dudley Council, said:
Having more than 20 street parties organised across the borough during the coronation weekend is a fantastic showing of our community spirit. I hope residents will enjoy this historic occasion.
A full list of road closures for street parties during the coronation weekend can be found on the council’s traffic page.
Residents who are hosting or attending street parties are encouraged to send pictures of themselves celebrating the coronation to capa.events@dudley.gov.uk for inclusion in the council’s online photo gallery.
