Residents invited to have their say on transport scheme
Dudley Council is inviting residents and businesses to take part in a Black Country consultation regarding proposed transport schemes.
Black Country Transport (BCT) has secured funding for the schemes, which aim to maximise travel options on the A461 corridor, between Dudley, Brierley Hill and Amblecote.
It’s hoped the improvements will provide more options for everyone who travels in the area, regardless of how they travel, with the proposals expected to complement the planned Metro extension.
Being delivered in connection with West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA), the project crosses over areas of Dudley and Sandwell boroughs and is being funded by the Government’s City Region Sustainable Transport Settlement (CRSTS).
Work could include carriageway resurfacing, improved drainage, cycle lanes, footway resurfacing, junction and crossing improvements, bus priority measures, links to public transport stations, more greenery and improved spaces. It is hoped the proposed schemes will also have a positive impact on safety and the environment.
People can find out more and take part in the survey online, where they can also post questions and sign up for the latest updates.
Councillor Damian Corfield, cabinet member for highways and environment, said:
“These proposed improvements tie into projects across the wider Black Country transport network and will link into the planned Metro extension.
“We want to maximise the benefits to residents and businesses in the area and want to hear from anyone who is directly and indirectly impacted by the scheme, including residents and businesses.
“We will also be holding several events throughout the project areas where people can discuss proposals in more detail and share any thoughts or feedback.”
Residents and businesses who live in the immediate area of the scheme will receive a letter, further detailing the proposed scheme.
The consultation will run until 13 September with full details online.
