Sedgley lights event back on
Event organisers have confirmed the Sedgley Christmas lights switch on event will go ahead after being cancelled last weekend due to snow and ice.
The event which should have gone ahead last Sunday (November 28) will now take place on Wednesday December 8 from 5pm.
The lights will be officially switched on at 7.30pm.
The event, which includes a Christmas market and stage entertainment will take place on Ettymore Road with funfair rides along Gospel End Street.
Councillor Shaun Keasey, cabinet member for digital, customer and commercial services, said:
We were incredibly disappointed to cancel the event last weekend, but the decision was made in order to keep people safe.
I’m delighted we’ve been able to rearrange the event at such short notice and we can kick off the Christmas celebrations for the people of Sedgley.
Road closures will be in place from 3pm until approximately 9.30pm. Roads closed include Ettymore Road (between the junctions of Townsend Avenue to Bull Ring), Hall Street (between the junctions of Ettymore Road and Gospel End Street) and Gospel End Street (between the junctions of Vicar Street and Bull Street).
Access will be maintained where safe to do so.
The one-way order on Dean Street will also be suspended – access and egress will be from Vicar Street.
On street parking will be suspended from midday on Dudley Street, Dean Street, Gospel End Street, Ettymore Road and Vicar Street.
