Service delivers all COVID-19 expectations
A Dudley Council service which delivers care in the community is managing the impact of coronavirus effectively, a report has confirmed.
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) recently carried out a remote assessment of the council’s home care services.
It inspected four areas including safe care and treatment, staffing arrangements, protection from abuse and assurance processes, monitoring and risk management.
Within each area of the assessment the council was found to be delivering positively against all criteria.
The CQC said “infection risks to people using the service are being thoroughly assessed and managed” and that “working arrangements and procedures are clear and accessible to staff, people who use the service, their supporters, and visitors.”
It also said that “there were enough suitable staff to provide people with safe care in a respectful and dignified way” and that the council is “monitoring and protecting the health, safety and wellbeing of staff.”
Dudley’s home care service supports more than xxxx people to live independently within their own home.
Councillor Nicolas Barlow, cabinet member for health and adult social care, said:
Last year we were really pleased when our home care services were rated good by CQC inspectors but to now get further confirmation that the service continues to operate well despite this awful pandemic shows sustained care at a high level.
The service is all about caring for local people and supporting them to live in their own homes. Our staff have worked tirelessly over the last few months to ensure all our service users continue to receive the care they need while doing everything they can to reduce the risk of transmission with the community.
All staff involved in delivering the service should be incredibly proud of what they achieved and this report from the CQC. The council extends its thanks to all care organisations and carers for their vital work during the pandemic.
