Share your views on open spaces in Dudley

The council wants to hear from people who use the borough’s parks, green spaces and public open spaces at a public meeting next month.

Dudley Local Access forum was set up to get feedback from people who use the borough’s parks, green spaces and public open spaces. From people who enjoy a quiet afternoon stroll in the park, to weekend joggers to horse riders, to people who use their bike to get around the borough, anyone who uses green spaces is welcome.

The forum meets twice a year to discuss issues like footpaths and rights of way in the borough’s parks, green spaces and nature reserves. It advises the council on how public access to land in Dudley can be improved for visitors to enjoy.

Members are also able to comment on planning applications and other strategies affecting rights of way and footpaths.

Councillor Damian Corfield, cabinet member for neighbourhoods, said:

“We’ve had great success with Local Access Forums in the past. Don’t let the dry name put you off, it’s all about hearing from residents who are passionate about the great outdoors. We want to get more people involved in conserving their local scenic areas and making it easier for more people to appreciate them.

“We have some fantastic green spaces in the borough and we welcome the constructive feedback that the forums provide on improving our footpaths, bridleways and other means of getting out into nature.”

Dudley’s next Local Access Forum meeting will be held at 3 St. James’ Road, Dudley on 12 June from 1.00 – 3.00pm.

Residents who are interested in joining the Local Access Forum should contact Dudley Council Plus on 0300 555 2345.

More information on the forum is available on the Dudley Council website.
