Sheltered housing fundraising for Macmillan

A sheltered housing scheme in Halesowen has successfully raised more than £650 for Macmillan cancer support at an event this month.

The Beulah Court tenants raised £660 with a cake sale and tombola.

Tenants, family, and friends all contributed to organising and attending the event. Local businesses who donated money or prizes and vouchers or the tombola included The Waggon and Horses Pub, Steves News, The Royal Fish Bar, The Whitely Pub, Tesco Express, Nicoles, LJD Meats, Don Guest Butchers and Bread & Butter.

Councillor Ian Bevan, cabinet member for housing and communities, said:
“It’s wonderful to see such community spirit with this fundraising event by some of our sheltered housing tenants and the kindness and generosity of the Halesowen community and local businesses.

“I would like to congratulate and thank everyone who contributed, donated, or participated in the event.”

Other sheltered housing schemes across the borough including Holloway Court, The Gables, Jack Newell Court, Netherton Lodge, Woodhouse Court, and Margaret Vine and Nene Close are hosting similar Macmillan Events, which should raise an estimated further £800.
