Snow buster packs now available
As temperatures plummet, residents are reminded they can apply for free equipment to help clear snow and ice this winter.
The snow buster packs give residents the ability to clear driveways and smaller residential roads whilst gritting teams cover 480km of main arterial routes/ roads
The packs are available through Dudley Council’s winter warmth service and include free shovels, salt spreaders, high-visibility vests, bags of special salt and advice on snow clearing.
People can call 01384 817086 between 8.30am and 5pm on Mondays to Thursdays and 8.30am to 4.30pm on Fridays for their pack.
People can also keep up to date with any changes to services during periods of inclement weather via the council’s weather watch page – www.dudley.gov.uk/weatherwatch
The weather watch page also includes details about the council’s gritting service.
Councillor Laura Taylor-Childs, cabinet member for housing and communities, said:
In previous years we have issued hundreds of snow buster packs to residents who want to help in their local community by clearing roads and footpaths.
We’ve got plenty to giveaway this year, so I’d urge people to get in touch now while stocks are available.
Councillor Shaz Saleem, cabinet member for highways and public ream, said:
Our gritting teams will be out this weekend to keep our roads moving as temperatures continue to plummet.
Thanks to everyone who takes part in the snow buster initiative and supports the vital work of our gritting team.
