Stevens Park gets Green Flag status
Stevens Park in Quarry Bank has been awarded a Green Flag award - an international quality mark for parks and green spaces.
It is the first time Dudley Council has successfully applied for the status at Stevens Park, but it has been bestowed on several other Dudley borough parks in previous years.
The allotment association at Abbey Road in Halesowen has built upon previous years' success to sustain their community green flag award for the 9th year running and the Friends of Wollescote Park have achieved the community green flag award for their sensory garden project on the park.
Councillor Damian Corfield, cabinet member for neighbourhoods, said:
“We are delighted that Stevens Park has achieved this status, following almost £2million of investment through the Heritage Lottery Project.
“We have seen the park being transformed into an incredible space for the local community and I would like to thank all those involved with the project to get it to this point.
“I would also like to congratulate Abbey Road allotments and the Friends of Wollescote Park on their success in retaining their green flag status.”
