Stevens Park resurfacing work

Visitors to Stevens Park in Quarry Bank will be able enjoy improved drives and pathways on site, thanks to improvement work being undertaken next week.

The park will remain open but visitors are being urged to take care and to keep dogs on leads while tarmac is laid from Monday 14 to Friday 18 June.

The drives and footpaths are being resurfaced as part of the Parks for People (Lottery Heritage Fund and National Lottery Community Fund) funded restoration.

Works to Tintern House are nearing completion whilst some park improvements will continue until the autumn.

The project has included the restoration of entrances, bandstand and peace gardens, as well as the footpaths.

Councillor Karen Shakespeare, cabinet member for public realm, said:

Stevens park is a fabulous park and this brilliant restoration project will bring enjoyment to visitors for generations to come.
I’d like to thank everyone for bearing with us while work is underway and remind them to take care. It’s particularly important for dog owners to keep their pets safe and keep them on their lead where work is taking place and by the new tarmac.
