Stitching together Covid memories

People are being invited to share their memories of the pandemic by taking part in a giant quilting project.

Dudley Council is asking those who live and work in the borough to reflect on their own covid stories by contributing single quilt squares.

The individual squares will be sewn together to create a large quilt that will be displayed in public places across the borough.

Designs can focus on objects, people or places and should be sewn or glued onto a fabric square.

Each square should be in a cotton or cotton weight material and should be eight inches square with an extra half an inch all the way round to allow for joining the pieces together. Submissions should all include some dark green if possible, to act as a common colour throughout the quilt.

People are encouraged to use their own materials wherever possible. However, if they would like to take part but don’t have suitable materials, starter packs can be collected from Dudley, Stourbridge, Halesowen, Kingswinford and Brierley Hill libraries. The packs contain base square, needle and thread and a selection of fabric.

Completed squares should be handed in at any borough library before the end of March, along with their full name if they would like to be attributed in the final display.
