Strong practice highlighted by Ofsted report
Older children in care are benefitting from the strong practice of social workers at Dudley Council, an Ofsted report has revealed.
Dudley Council has welcomed the report’s findings following an Ofsted visit in February.
The report states there is good support for children in homes and strong engagement with children.
Good standard of professional administration and recording, with social workers praised for their respectful and empathetic way of working is also highlighted.
Dudley Council has accepted areas for learning and improvement as identified in the report, and it is working with partners to put further measures in place.
Councillor David Stanley, cabinet member for children’s services, said:
“Dudley’s children’s service is working towards being good and this report shows some of the measures we are putting place to support older children.
“We welcome and accept all the findings of the report and recognise there is still much work to do.
“Our area of focus will be on bringing greater consistency in the supervision of our teams, in our work with housing and for young people at risk of homelessness, and in permanency planning for all our children.”
Dudley Council is working towards with businesses, partners and residents to build on its vision of a Child Friendly Borough, more information is online.
