Stumping up cash for charity

Staff and elected members at Dudley Council will be stumping up cash for the Mayor’s charities at their annual cricket match next month.

A team of council officers will be taking on councillors on July 4 in a 20-overs-per-side match.

The players will be taking to the field at Stourbridge Cricket Club’s Memorial Ground in Amblecote from 6pm.

There will also be a raffle as the teams try to raise as much money as they can for the Mayor of Dudley’s charities.

They are Alzheimer’s Society, Disability in Action Dudley, Guide Dogs UK, The Gurkha Welfare Trust and The Leukaemia Unit Appeal Fund (supporting the Georgina Unit at Russells Hall Hospital).

Councillor Pete Lee, the Mayor of Dudley, said:

“The annual cricket match is always a fantastic event where the players give up their time to raise money for charity.

“People are more than welcome to come and watch, and it would be great to see a good turnout on the night helping us raise as much money as we can for five very worthy charities.”
