Success at hubs as dozens register babies

The family hubs officially opened this summer in five locations across the borough – Brierley Hill, Dudley, Coseley, Lye and Stourbridge.

The hubs form part of a wider Dudley family hub network offering a range of services for families including parenting groups, baby clinics, pre-natal and family support work.

Two of the hubs, Coseley and Stourbridge, now also offer a registration service for the births of newborn babies.

Councillor Ruth Buttery, cabinet member for children and young people, said:

We launched the registration service in two of our hubs two weeks ago, and I’m delighted that so many new parents have already been able to benefit from the flexibility this service offers.

It was wonderful to meet Chelsey and baby Stevie, who was the first baby to be registered at the Stourbridge hub.

The hubs are a fantastic place to find information and support for all families with children up to the age of 19, or 25 if the child has special educational needs or disabilities.

As a child friendly borough, I’m pleased we’re able to offer all families a place to find information and any support they need in their communities.

The birth registration service is available at the local family hub on Bayer Street Coseley on Tuesdays, while parents can register births at the hub on Forge Road in Stourbridge on Wednesdays.

Appointments can also be made as normal from Monday to Friday and on Saturday mornings at Dudley Register Office and the Thomas Robinson Building in Stourbridge.
