Support for young people with SEND in post-16 transition

Young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) are invited to attend a marketplace event in Dudley next month.

The ‘All About You’ SEND Post-16 marketplace event is at Dudley College, The Broadway, on Wednesday November 23 from 10am to 3pm.

Organised by Dudley SENDIASS service, which provides impartial support and advice to young people with SEND and their families, the event is aimed at young people aged 14 – 25 with SEND and those who support them.

Professionals from a range of settings, organisations and services within education, health and social care will be on hand to answer questions about how they can help students with SEND as they make their transition into adulthood.

Councillor Ruth Buttery, cabinet member for children’s services, said:

“We are committed to continuing our support for young people with SEND as they make their transition on to adulthood.

“This marketplace event will provide young people who have additional needs the opportunity to explore options that are available to them once they turn 16.”

Young people with or without an EHCP are welcome to attend these sessions, as well as their parents or carers. Spaces must be booked in advance via Eventbrite.
