Sustainability conference set to bring young people together
Students from across Dudley borough are attending a free sustainability conference, which is taking place at Dudley Council House on Thursday 20 November.
The event mimics the style of a UN conference, with pupils from local secondary schools being brought together to debate global environmental issues in the Council Chamber
Predetermined teams will represent the 15 UN nations who will be attending COP30 in Brazil, with an opportunity to also put views to decision-makers.
The event is entirely funded by Midlands Net Zero Hub and students taking part will also have the chance to meet with a range of local organisations.
Councillor Ed Lawrence, cabinet member for transformation, said:
“We are incredibly excited to be holding this event in the Council Chamber.”
“This event is all about giving borough youngsters the chance to learn more about the skill of debating and international relations to achieve common goals.
“I am very much looking forward to hearing our young people speak on the issues of environmental sustainability.”
