Team strikes gold

A Dudley Council housing team has struck gold for the 20th year running for its continued high standards in maintaining staff and tenant safety.

The council’s housing maintenance team, which is made up of 470 members of staff was recently awarded the Order of Distinction from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).

This is in recognition of the division achieving a 20th consecutive gold in the RoSPA awards, which celebrate high standards in health and safety performance in the workplace.

The team comprises a variety of craft people including plumbers, electricians, bricklayers, plasterers, gas operatives and carpenters.

Councillor Laura Taylor, cabinet member for housing and community services, said:

It’s no mean feat to achieve 20 consecutive gold awards and another Order of Distinction.
I congratulate all of the staff within our housing maintenance team and thank them for their continued efforts in delivering high standards in health safety across the workforce and in tenants’ homes.
It’s really important that staff and our tenants feel and are safe when work is carried out and these awards acknowledge that for 20 years our standards haven’t faltered.
Thanks to RoSPA for once again for recognising what we do and here’s to hoping we reach 21 gold awards next year.
