Thousands of Brits making Dudley home, new study reveals
The leader of the council has expressed his delight at a new study which shows Dudley is one of the most popular town destinations nationally for British house movers.
The report said Dudley was the UK’s fifth most popular location for house moves, with an eight per cent increase in net migration compared to the previous year.
More than 14,000 have moved to Dudley in 12 months, the study says.
Councillor Patrick Harley, leader of the council, said:
“I am delighted with the findings of this study, which shows Dudley is becoming an increasingly popular location for people across the UK to come and live.
“This trend should only continue upwards as the £1 billion regeneration programme spearheaded by the council continues at pace.
“We look forward to the opening of the town’s new bus and tram interchange alongside the start of the Metro running through, as well as the arrival of Eton College and a new ice rink.
“And this is just the start - the future is most definitely bright for Dudley.”
The ‘moving trends’ report was commissioned by storage provider Stora.
Dudley was the only town in the region to feature in the top 10, coming in behind Birkenhead in first place, Wigan, Northampton and Mansfield.
