Win £500 by switching to receive your council tax bill digitally
Borough residents could be in for a festive treat with anyone signing up to receive their council tax bill by e-billing having the chance to win £500 in a prize draw.
More than 17,000 households have already opted into the convenience of e-billing for their council tax bill.
The authority is now encouraging more people to make the switch with those signing up, along with the 17,000 already registered, being entered into a monthly prize draw offering a £500 first prize, £250 second prize and £100 third prize.
Prize draws will take place over the next three months, with draws on December 17, January 30 and February 27.
Residents signing up will be entered into the next and any subsequent draw, meaning those already registered for e-billing or signing up before Dec 17 having three chances to win a prize.
Previously, paper copies of council tax bills were sent to all residents. By switching to receiving their bill by email, residents are helping to reduce paper, printing and postage costs, making savings that can be reinvested into services that matter most.
Councillor Steve Clark, cabinet member for resources, said:
“Registering for a MyDudley account and e-billing is quick and easy, giving you access to your account at your convenience, wherever you are.
“We’ve already seen thousands of people make the switch to receiving their council tax bill digitally and are keen to see this number grow.
“Each year we spend a significant amount of money sending paper council tax bills to residents. Every sign-up will make a difference, as the money used on paper and postage can be diverted into helping us maintain essential services.
“And with the first draw just before Christmas, I’m sure this will be a welcome extra gift for our winners.”
Switching to e-billing is easy to do. Residents can sign up for e-billing using their MyDudley account and their council tax reference from their latest bill. If people don’t have that to hand, they can answer a couple of quick verification questions.
People who sign up for e-billing will start to receive their council tax bill digitally.
