Council contractor brings Easter joy by donating hundreds of eggs
A contractor working for Dudley Council has donated more than 200 Easter eggs to deprived youngsters in the borough.
Equans, the firm appointed to oversee the £13 million revamp of two sheltered housing schemes in the borough, collected a huge haul of eggs at its Dudley office.
Around 100 of the 230 eggs collected were dropped off at Dudley Council Plus on Castle Street, where they will be redistributed to family centres and hostels in the borough.
Bosses of the firm also visited Netherton Foodbank to hand out eggs to children who attended and donated 40 eggs to Lapal Primary School in Halesowen.
Youngsters at the school added them to food parcels they have been preparing to send out over the Easter break for families in need of help and support.
Equans is overseeing the revamp of Jack Newell Court, in Coseley, and Woodhouse Court, in Brierley Hill, and also have a number of other contracts with the council’s housing team.
Balvinder Heran, deputy chief executive, said:
The eggs handed in at Dudley Council Plus will be distributed by our officers to children and families who otherwise may not have got one this year.
This was a fantastic gesture by Equans and is very much appreciated.

Just seeing the smiles on the faces of children as we handed them over in Netherton made it all worthwhile.
Meanwhile, Jardine Motors also donated 50 eggs this week to Stourbridge Family Centre to be distributed to those in need.
