Easter activities for children

Children who are eligible for free school meals in Dudley borough can take part in a fantastic programme of free activities over the Easter school holidays.

Dudley Council is working with Dudley Council for Voluntary Services (DCVS) to offer the Holiday Activity Fun (HAF) programme, with registration opening on Monday (14 February).

Any child in the borough aged five to 16 who qualifies for free school meals due to low family income can take part.

Activities include sports, dance, drama, gardening, music workshops, arts and crafts, cooking, days out, easter egg hunts and family activities.

Councillor Ruth Buttery, cabinet member for children’s services, said:

We are working with our partners to build a Child Friendly Dudley and it is incredibly exciting to collaborate with DCVS again to offer these wonderful activities.

HAF gives children and young people the much-needed opportunity to build their confidence, socialise and have fun during the school holidays and we know just how much these activities mean to borough parents and carers.
Donna Roberts, children's development officer at DCVS, said:

Being part of the HAF team and working with our families is joyous. Parents tell us how HAF is a 'lifesaver' for them, it reduces the pressure and stress, helps them to balance being a working parent and keeps their children happy, occupied and well fed.
Most importantly though is the impact HAF has on our children across the borough. They are being given the opportunity to make new friends, try new things, learn new skills, grow in confidence and have loads of fun.
Families must be in receipt of low-income or benefits related free school meals to qualify for the free school meal activities.

Parents can register their child at https://holidayactivitiesindudley.com/register-your-child/ between 14 and 28 February. Those who registered in 2021 do not need to register again and will receive an email inviting them to book sessions. Activity bookings will be open from 7 March.
