Pothole blitz continues
Dudley Council contractors are continuing to work nights to blitz potholes on roads across the borough.
More than 25,000 square metres of road has been repaired over the last 12 months, and the council has pledged that it will tackle more potholes this spring.
The highways team undertook more than 3,000 highway safety inspections in 2025 and crews will be working in several parts of the borough this winter including Norton, Kingswinford, Netherton, Coseley, Dudley, Halesowen, Lye, Amblecote, Brierley Hill and Pensnett.
Locations set to be visited in the coming months include Barnett Lane, Bredon Road, Pensnett Road, Terrace Street, Racecourse Lane, Simms Lane, Canal Street in Coseley, and Oakham Avenue.
Councillor Simon Phipps, cabinet member for economy and infrastructure, said:
“Like all local authorities, we have faced challenges with potholes with the winter conditions having had a negative impact on the highways in some locations.
“We have a continuous programme of works to repair potholes in Dudley borough and two years ago we launched a proactive service, which concentrates on permanent repairs rather than temporary fix, and includes our nighttime pothole-blitz sessions to help us catch up on issues left over from the winter.
“Residents have given us some great feedback since this started, but with more than 700 miles of roads across the borough we know the work is never completed and we have more to do.
“I would like to thank our residents, who help to keep us updated on locations through our online reporting system MyDudley. The system logs issues and helps us to keep a track of where defects are presenting on roads across the borough.”
