Young people with SEND invited to sessions

Young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) can benefit from a series of online events from Dudley Council.

Dudley’s SENDIASS (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Information, Advice and Support Service), which provides impartial support and advice to young people with SEND and their families, is offering the free sessions.

The events are aimed at young people in Year 9 onwards, aged 14 to 25 with SEND. Hosted through MS Teams, it will provide an opportunity for people to hear from agencies and settings and to ask questions about how they will be supported post 16 as they move into the adult world.

Topics include post 16 educational settings on Wednesday 16 June, employment and training opportunities on Wednesday 23 June and making the transition into adulthood on Wednesday 30 June.

Councillor Ruth Buttery, cabinet member for children’s services, said:

Preparing for adulthood is an important part of any young person’s life and we want to make sure we do all we can to support children with additional needs as they take these next steps.
I am sure the sessions will be very popular, and I would encourage people to book their space as soon as possible.

Young people with or without an EHCP are welcome to attend the sessions as well as parents or carers. Spaces must be booked in advance via Eventbrite.
